Suspicous Person at Loaf and Jug

Post Date:03/08/2018 10:06 AM

On 3/7/18 at approximately 8:57 am, Grand Forks Police officers were called to the Loaf and Jug on Gateway Dr. for a suspicious male.  A male subject had been acting strangely in the bathroom for a significant period of time.  Officers spoke with the male, identified as Hunter Belgarde, a 20 year old Grand Forks male, and he was eventually sent on his way.  Prior to the officers leaving the scene, Belgarde stepped in front of a bus that was driving on Gateway Dr., causing the driver to take evasive action to avoid a collision.  The officers went to arrest Belgarde, at which time a physical confrontation ensued.  Belgarde was arrested for Disorderly Conduct, Resisting Arrest, Fleeing and Assault on a Police Officer.

One of the involved officers self-transported to the Altru emergency room for a minor injury.  Nobody else was injured during the incident.  The Grand Forks Police Department was assisted by officers from the University of North Dakota Police Department and paramedics from Altru Health Systems.
