Sales tax collections in Grand Forks totaled more than $1.6 million in June, helping the City remain slightly above last year’s pace.
Although not enough to qualify for the top 10 list, it is the third largest monthly collection in 2013.
“When you look at where we were at this time last year, the numbers are about the same” said Maureen Storstad, Grand Forks Finance Director. “But when you compare the past 12 months to the previous 12 month period, our sales tax revenue is up 4.13%, and that’s encouraging.”
The June sales tax revenue represents the sales tax collected for the month of April 2013. For the year, sales tax receipts total more than $9.5 million. For all of 2012, sales tax collections totaled just under $19.4 million.
