News Release
Grand Forks, ND – The Grand Forks International Airport will conduct an emergency disaster exercise on Wednesday, May 4, 2011. It will get underway at 2:00 p.m. and will be held at the Airport’s training area, on the west side of the airport along County Road 5. The training area is equipped with a Boeing 727 airplane, which will be used in the exercise.
Dozens of emergency vehicles from the Grand Forks Airport, local and regional law enforcement, area fire departments, Altru Hospital, Red Cross and Salvation Army will take part in the drill. Mutual aid response will also be tested during the exercise, as well as inter-agency communication.
As part of the exercise, the Grand Forks Airport is looking for additional volunteers to help with the disaster drill. Anyone interested in volunteering should report to the parking lot just south of the new terminal building (north of the Fed Ex building) by 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday, May 4.
The exercise is required every three years by the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA). The training is expected to last approximately two hours.
