	Grand Forks Events Center Commission Presentation to Task Force and City Council Wednesday, March 17, 2010 6:15 p.m. Alerus Center Oriole Room #2 CALL TO ORDER Randy Newman, Chair, called the Presentation to Task Force and City Council meeting to order at approximately 6:20 p.m. Present were: Randy Newman, Curt Kreun, Dwight Thompson and Darrell Larson establishing a quorum. Guests attending: Mayor Brown, Rick Duquette, Art Bakken, Eliot Glassheim, Duane Hafner, Laura Block, Julie Rygg, Mike Emmons, Bill Hutchison, Candi Stjern, Steve Peters, Ben Axtman Alerus Center Staff: Steve Hyman, Charlene Wifall, Stephanie Bernstrom, Tami Pearson, Rod Oas, Wendy Nimens, Vione Jordheim, Jeremy Linstad Following the call to order, dinner was served and Task Force and City Council members were asked to review the minutes that were emailed; a copy of which was distributed. The meeting was temporarily suspended while dinner was served. RESPONSE TO TASK FORCE RECOMMENDATIONS The Response to Final Task Force Report (attached) and minutes of the March 16, 2010 Special Meeting of the Grand Forks Events Center Commission (attached) were distributed. Appreciation was extended to the Task Force for their work. As the Commission is not in disagreement with any of the recommendations some of the items are or will be immediately implemented. Others will be scheduled at the monthly Commission meetings to discuss and review. These can be followed via the meeting minutes. Doug Christensen joined the meeting at 7:05 p.m. CHARTING THE PAST NINE YEARS Alerus Center Staff presented the power point, Alerus Center: the past 9 years, (attached). The power point showed trends that have occurred over the past nine years and was provided as information to attendees. Information was shared on events held at the Alerus Center on both the conference and arena side including community events that may not be revenue bearing. Update on the remodeling project was given along with discussion regarding arena curtaining system. Staff introduced themselves and identified their area of responsibility.
