Library Presentation
Susan Mickelson, President of the GF Library Board, gave a presentation to the Commission about the proposed new library project. The presentation included an overview of the proposed project, financing options under discussion, the upcoming special election concerning the project, and the process they used to get feedback in development of the project. Commissioners expressed an interest in the project and on perhaps being involved in providing some youth input if the project goes forward.

Safer Tomorrow Grant
Bridgette Olson spoke with the Commission on the Safer Tomorrow Grant Project. She commended the youth for the impression that they made on the federal delegation that came in December for a site visit. As part of the process for determination of the amount of grant that we will receive, she is conducting focus groups and would like to invite the Youth Commission to be one of the focus groups. She explained what would be required of the youth and discussed potential times that would work to hold the meeting. She will follow-up with Mrs. Axvig and Mrs. Lien as to when the meeting is set so that they can get the word out to the Youth Commissioners.

Feed the Children
Sherie brought handouts with the more information about the project and which also include a link to the website so that students can view a short video if they wish to learn about the project. The website is also where groups or individuals can go to volunteer for the project.

Lakota Youth Commission
Pete is still working with the Lakota Mayor to determine a date that will work. He will get more information out to you soon.

Other Updates
Pete is also still working on getting information on the cost to publish a promotional piece about the Youth Commission on the River Cinema ad run that plays before the movies.

Tyrone Grandstrand, City Council member for Ward 2, was a visitor at the meeting today and shared some personal comments with the Commission on their work and the Library Project.

Mary Lien stated that she has funding available for the printing of some posters that could be put up to market YORS and Youth Commission in the schools. Anyone wanting more information or that wants to submit a poster design to her.

Meeting adjourned at 1:00.

Respectfully submitted,
Sherie Lundmark
