BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENT

The Board of Zoning Adjustments held a public hearing in Room A102 of City Hall. A notice was placed in the Grand Forks Herald, as required by City Ordinances.

Chairman Kent Anderson called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM.

Members present were: Kent Anderson, Del Scholler, Lynn Vreeland, Mark Peterson, Larry Boltz and Jim Galloway.

Member absent was: none

It was moved by Lynn Vreeland and seconded by Del Scholler to dispense with the reading of the last meeting’s minutes. Motion passed unanimously.

The following appeals were heard:

1. John Widdel, Bell Fire, LLP, 2101 University Ave, has made a request for a variance to the accessory building requirements [Section 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to build an addition onto the garage. Legal Description: Lot 1, Block 5, Dacotah Place Addition.

It was moved by Lynn Vreeland and seconded by Del Scholler to allow only two feet (2’) of side yard setback, only one and one-half feet (1.5’) of rear yard setback and only sixteen feet (16’) of setback in front of the overhead door in order to build an addition onto to the existing detached garage. Motion passed unanimously.


2. Bruce Rylander, 325 N 8th St, has made a request for a variance to the side yard setback requirements for decks [Sections 18-0304 of the Land Development Code] in order to build a deck. Legal Description: Lots 1 & 3, Block 14, Budge & Eshelman’s 2nd Addition.

It was moved by Jim Galloway and seconded by Del Scholler to allow only thirty-three inches (33”) of side yard setback in order to build a deck on the side yard of the home. Motion passed unanimously.


Del Scholler moved for adjournment and was seconded by Mark Peterson. Motion passed unanimously.
