BOARD OF ZONING ADJUSTMENT

The Board of Zoning Adjustments held a public hearing in Room A102 of City Hall. A notice was placed in the Grand Forks Herald, as required by City Ordinances.

Chairman Kent Anderson called the meeting to order at 10:35 AM.

Members present were: Kent Anderson, Del Scholler, Lynn Vreeland, Mark Peterson, Larry Boltz and Jim Galloway.

Member absent was: none

It was moved by Lynn Vreeland and seconded by Mark Peterson to dispense with the reading of the last meeting’s minutes. Motion passed unanimously.

The following appeals were heard:

1. Donna Herndon, 1507 S 16th St, has made a request for a variance to the accessory building requirements [Section 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to build an addition onto the home. Legal Description: Lot 19, Block 13, Burke’s Home Addition.

It was moved by Jim Galloway and seconded by Del Scholler to allow only eight feet (8’) of setback between the existing garage and the new addition on to the home and only three feet (3’) of side yard setback from the existing detached garage in order to build an addition onto the home. Motion passed unanimously.


2. William & Patricia Janzen, 342 Grassy Hills Lane, have made a request for a variance to the accessory building and impervious surface area coverage requirements [Sections 18-0208(7) & 18-0302(5)(C) of the Land Development Code] in order to build a detached garage. Legal Description: Lot 48, Block Q, Sunbeam Addition.

It was moved by Lynn Vreeland and seconded by Del Scholler to allow up to one thousand two hundred and ninety-two (1,292) square feet of accessory building area in order to build a new detached garage. Motion passed unanimously.


3. Clay Whitmore, 1202 Linden Ct, has made a request for a variance to the accessory building requirements [Section 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to build an addition onto the detached garage. Legal Description: Lot 12 & N 20 ½’ of Lot 13, Block 3, Lincoln Parkview 1st Addition.

It was moved by Jim Galloway and seconded by Mark Peterson to allow only one foot (1’) of side yard setback and nineteen feet (19’) of setback in front of the overhead door in order to build an addition onto the detached garage. Motion passed unanimously.


4. Garon Construction, on behalf of Michael Schepp & Colleen Swank, 5886 Pinehurst Ct, has made a request for a variance to the accessory building requirements [Section 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to build a detached garage. Legal Description: Lot 6, Block E, Kannowski’s 1st Addition.

This item was withdrawn by Garon Construction.

Lynn Vreeland moved for adjournment and was seconded by Mark Peterson. Motion passed unanimously.
