Grand Forks Civil Service Commission
November 13, 2003
The Grand Forks Civil Service Commission was called to order at 3:30PM by
Chairperson Kvasager. Commissioners Bredemeier, MacGregor and Nies present.
Commissioner Johnson absent.

CHANGES/ADDITIONS TO AGENDA
Asst. HR Director, Daryl Hovland presented the following changes/additions to
the agenda:
1) Request to extend the Eligibility Register for Firefighter.
It was moved by Bredemeier and seconded by MacGregor to approve the
changes/additions to the agenda. All approve, motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to approve the October 9,
2003 regular meeting minutes as presented. All approve, motion carried.

REQUEST TO EXTEND ELIGIBILITY REGISTER FOR FIREFIGHTER
Mr. Hovland presented the current eligibility register for Firefighter expires
November 14, 2003. It is the request of the Fire Department to extend it until
March 1, 2004 based on the needs of the Department. Deputy Fire Chief Flermoen
stated it is due to the changes last month in the selection process including
the physical agility test and obtaining the equipment for that test is the
reason.
It was moved by Bredemeier and seconded by MacGregor to extend the eligibility
register to March 1, 2004 for the position of Firefighter. All approve, motion
carried.

WRITTEN EXAMINATION CUT-OFF SCORE
EQUIPMENT OPERATOR, SENIOR (SANITATION)
Mr. Newman requested that all four candidates move forward to the interview
process.
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to establish 46.7% as the
cut-off examination score. All approve, motion carried.

Commissioner Nies entered the meeting.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to adjourn the November
13, 2003 Civil Service Commission meeting. All approve, meeting adjourned. The
meeting adjourned at approximately 3:45PM.
