MINUTES
CITY OF GRAND FORKS - BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
April 14, 1992
The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota was called to meet as the Board of Equalization in the city council chambers by Mayor Polovitz on Tuesday, April 14, 1992 at 7:00 p.m. as required by the North Dakota Century Code. Present at roll call were Council Members Beach, Hoeppner, Glassheim, Crawford, Carpenter, Shores, Johnson, Hagness - 8; absent: Council Members K.Polovitz, Kulas, B.Hanson, R.Hanson, Lien - 5; 1 seat vacant.
Mr. Carsen, city assessor, stated that the Board of Equalization would consider appeals of individual property assessments as made by the assessor's office; that copies of the tax roll books had been placed on a table in the council chambers. Mr. Carsen read from the NDCC 57-11-03, duties of the board, and limitation on increase.
REFER FORMAL PROTESTS TO FINANCE COMMITTEE
Mayor Polovitz called for presentation of protests and/or ap-peals. A formal protest was received from the following property owner, protesting the assessed valuation of his property:
1) Dudley Benson, 1609 2nd Avenue North
The protest was received and referred to the finance committee of the city council for further consideration on April 28 at 3:30 p.m., and to report back with recommendation on May 4.
RECESS
There being no further protests to be presented to the Board, it was moved by Council Member Beach and seconded by Council Member Hoeppner that the Board of Equalization adjourn (recess) and reconvene May 4, 1992 at 7:15 p.m. after the finance committee has held its hearings and has had time to make its recommenda-tions to the Board of Equalization. Carried 8 votes affirmative.
