MINUTES
CITY OF GRAND FORKS - BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
May 3, 1993
The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota was called to meet as the Board of Equalization in the city council chambers by mayor Polovitz on Monday, May 3, 1993 at 7:00 p.m. as required by the North Dakota Century Code. Present were Council Members McCabe, Hoeppner, Kulas, Hanson, Crawford, Carpenter, Lien, Shores, Johnson - 9; absent: Council Member Geller - 1.
APPROVE MINUTES
Typewritten copies of the minutes of the Board meeting held on Tuesday, April 13, 1993 were presented and read. It was moved by Council Member Johnson and seconded by Council Member Hanson that the minutes be approved as read. Carried 9 votes affirmative.
APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION
ON PROPERTY AT 421 DEMERS AVENUE
The finance committee of the city council reported having consid-ered the protest by Henry H. Howe on building at 421 DeMers Avenue, and recommended that we approve reduction of the assessed valuation to the assessor's recommendation of $135,700.00.
It was moved by Council Member Johnson and seconded by Council Member Kulas that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 9 votes affirmative.
ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
2309 CHESTNUT STREET
The finance committee of the city council reported having consid-ered the protest by Henry H. Howe on property at 2309 Chestnut Street, and recommended that we accept the valuation of the city assessor in the amount of $95,600.00.
It was moved by Council Member Johnson and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 9 votes affirmative.
APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 1028 LINCOLN DRIVE
The finance committee of the city council reported having consid-ered the protest by Allen Stockdale on valuation of property at 1028 Lincoln Drive, and recommended that we accept the assessor's reduced appraisal of $40,600.00.
It was moved by Council Member McCabe and seconded by Council Member Johnson that this recommendation be and is hereby ap-proved. Carried 9 votes affirmative.

APPROVE EXEMPTION OF UND AEROSPACE FOUNDATION PROPERTY
The finance committee of the city council reported having consid-ered the protest by UND Aerospace Foundation on valuation of Lots 1-6, Block 1, University Tech. Park, and Lot 1, Block 1, Burling-ton Northern/University Addition, and recommended that we exempt Lots 1, 2, 3, 4, 5 and 6, Block 1, University Tech. Park, and Lot 1, Block 1, Burlington Northern/University Addition, and make leasehold interest assessment to the lessee of Lot 6.
It was moved by Council Member Johnson and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.
APPROVE REDUCTION IN VALUATION OF PROPERTY
AT 1750 32ND AVENUE SOUTH
The finance committee of the city council reported having consid-ered the protest by Hugo Magnuson, Hugo's #8, 1750 32nd Avenue south, and recommended that we reduce the market value from $2,639,400 to $2,494,300 (land $368,200 and improvements $2,126,100).
It was moved by Council Member Johnson and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.
CERTIFY ASSESSMENTS TO COUNTY AUDITOR
It was moved by Council Member Hanson and seconded by Council Member Hoeppner that the tax rolls as presented by the city assessor and as equalized by the Board of Equalization be and are hereby certified to the county auditor, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Upon roll call the following voted "aye": Council Members Beach, McCabe, Hoeppner, Kulas, Hanson, Glassheim, Crawford, Carpenter, Lien, Beyer, Shores, Johnson, Hagness - 13; voting "nay": none. Mayor Polovitz declared the motion carried and the assessments certified.
ADJOURN
It was moved by Council Member Hoeppner and seconded by Council Member Shores that we do now adjourn sine die. Carried 13 votes affirmative.
