MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Monday, January 24, 1994 - 3:45 p.m.

Members present: Crawford, Hoeppner.

1. Consideration of bids for vehicle for fire department.
The committee reviewed the four bids received for staff vehicle - Chev. Suburban. Moved by Hoeppner and Crawford to accept bid of Rydell Chevrolet in the amount of $23,978.00. Motion carried.

2. Matter of notification of change in name of business at
425 North 42nd Street re. alcoholic beverage license -
Topper's Inc. dba Topper's Hamburger Grill and Malt Shop to
Topper's, Inc. dba BJB's Original Pit Bar-B-Q.
Moved by Crawford and Hoeppner to receive and file. Motion carried.

3. Matter of bid specifications for police vehicles.
Chief Paschke reviewed specifications and stated that they are bidding 3 separate packages to give committee and council options (first package is request for 7 new vehicles with trade-in of 6 vehicles; second package is for 8 new vehicles with trade-in of 7 vehicles; and third package is for 9 new vehicles with 8 trade-in vehicles); and that there is $80,000 budgeted. He also noted that specs. same as past several years, with exception of item 17. for bucket seats in front, 6-way power seat on driver's side seat - because of new vehicles coming out with dual airbags, which creates problem for police vehicles as they need to make modifications to make room for their equipment (moving radar, radio receivers, siren, light bar controls, etc.) He presented information to committee re. maintenance costs. Moved by Crawford and Hoeppner to approve specifications, and authorize call for bids. Motion carried. (committee only)

4. Request to purchase desks for police department.
Chief Paschke presented request to purchase 3 replacement desks for detective division, that they want to order from Roughrider Industries at State Penitentiary at one-half to one-third cost; desks are wood with oak veneer at est. cost of $1530.00. He also noted that they will look at City Hall salvage units and if any available, will reduce number of their order. Moved by Hoeppner and Crawford to approve purchase of the desks. Motion carried. 5. Applications for gaming permits:
a) Bridge Builders Club of St. Michael's Church. raffles for
period April 6-14, 1994.
The application had been reviewed and approved by the city attorney. Moved by Hoeppner and Crawford to approved. Motion carried. (committee only)

b) Red River Lions Club - raffle and bingo on February 12.
Approval of the application was moved by Hoeppner and

6. Temporary and overtime statement for December, 1993.
The committee reviewed the statement. Moved by Crawford and Hoeppner to approve. Motion carried. (committee only).
