MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Monday, May 16, 1994 - 7:00 p.m.

Members present: Crawford, Geller, Hoeppner.

1. Request by Kem Temple to hold parade on June 4, 1994 and
to restrict parking in front of Masonic Temple.
Alf Enger reported he had talked with Capt. Waith. Moved by Geller and Hoeppner to approve the request, contingent upon review and approval of the police department. Motion carried.

2. Request by YMCA Family Center to hold community special
events during summer of 1994:
a) YMCA Biathlon - May 21
b) YMCA Triathlon - July 30
c) YMCA Family Fun Run - September 3
Veronica Whitehead, program director at the Y-Family Center, was present and reported that she had talked to police departments in Grand Forks and East Grand Forks, that routes are same as last year, and reviewed with the committee. It was noted that largest part of routes are in East Grand Forks. Moved by Hoeppner and Geller that the requests be approved, subject to coordinating the events with the police department. Motion carried.

3. Applications for gaming permits:
a) Site authorizations for year July 1, 1994 through June 30, 1995 by Listen, Inc.: 1) 710 1st Avenue North (Town House); 2) 4720 Gateway Drive (Long Haul Saloon); 3) 1730 13th Avenue North (El Roco Lounge); and 4) 205 North 3rd Street (Hub Bar). The applications had been reviewed and approved by the city attorney. It was moved by Crawford and seconded by Geller that the applications be approved. Motion carried. (committee only)

b) North Dakota Region, Antique Automobile Club of America, Inc. - raffle on September 25, 1994.
The application had been reviewed by the city attorney, with approval subject to adoption of a resolution. Moved by Crawford and Geller that we adopt a resolution recognizing the ND Region Antique Automobile Club of America, Inc. as a "public spirited" organization eligible to conduct games of chance, and to approve the application. Motion carried.
