Committee Minutes

MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Monday, May 1, 1995 - 6:45 p.m.

Members present: Hoeppner, Johnson, Sande.

1. Request to remove parking on Bruce Avenue from South 4th Street east to alley, south side of street.
Gary Malm and R. L. Charrier, rep. Grand Forks County, presented request for removal of parking during construction period (renovation of the first floor of the County Office Building located at 201 South 4th Street), which is scheduled for completion on or before November 10 of this year.

It was noted that they now have unrestricted parking because of Ecolab, and asked committee to consider at the end of the construction period, if transfer to the other side of the street (where there is 2-hour parking), putting in 15-minute parking zones on this area (south side from S. 4th Street east to the alley) to allow people coming to County building to take care of their business.

Sande reported present.

John Thompson, traffic engineer, stated he had no problem with this, and they would know by time construction period over whether impact across street.

Moved by Johnson and Sande that we approve request that the sidewalk and parking on the south side of Bruce Avenue from South 4th Street east to alley be designated a construction zone with no parking allowed. Motion carried.

2. Request from Shakey's Pizza to hold grand re-opening on May 20, 1995 with
live band in front of their building during hours of 5:00-9:00 p.m. or 6:00-10:00 p.m.
The health department had no objections. Moved by Sande and Johnson that the request be approved. Motion carried.

Meeting adjourned.
