MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Tuesday, September 3, 1996 - 7:00 p.m.

Members present: Sande, Ellingson, Glassheim.

1. Request for variance to noise ordinance:
b) Sigma Chi Fraternity - September 6
Glen Davis, house mgr., and Corey Herlickson, president, presented request for Friday, September 6, stated that only amp is for microphone; that this is their first request; and stated if there are complaints will bring inside. Chief Paschke stated they had no opposition. Moved by Ellingson and Glassheim to grant request for noise variance until 1:00 a.m. Motion carried.

2. Request to hold block party on September 7 and blocking both
ends of S. 38th Street beginning at 6:00 p.m.
Diann Egeland, 1314 S. 38th Street, reviewed request with the committee; Chief Paschke stated they had no problem with the request. Moved by Glassheim and Ellingson to approve request, subject to signing hold harmless agreement. Motion carried. (comm. only)

3. Applications for special alcoholic beverage permits:
a) Ramada Inn - Sept. 7 for Rural Mental Health dinner scheduled at Museum of Art. Moved by Ellingson and Glassheim to approve the application. Motion carried. (comm. only)

1. Request for noise variance:
a) Lambda Chi Alpha Fraternity - September 5 and 6
There were no reps. present. After some discussion it was moved by Glassheim and Ellingson to grant a variance to 12:00 midnight (with addendum that in the future for request to be considered to have rep. present) Motion carried.

4. Applications for gaming permits:
a) Holy Family Altar Society - raffle 11/02/96
b) Lincoln Elementary School - bingo/raffle on October 25 for carnival and November 21 for turkey bingo.
c) United Hospital - raffle on 10/05/96.
All aps. had been reviewed and approved by the city attorney. Moved by Glassheim and Ellingson to approve applications. Motion carried. (comm. only)

The meeting adjourned at 7:20 p.m.; next meeting scheduled for Thursday, September 12, at 3:45 p.m.
