MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Monday, April 6, 1998 - 6:45 p.m.

Members present: Sande, Beyer, Glassheim.

3. Requests for block parties:
a) Walnut Street, 4300 block, and to block Walnut at Windward
Hills and at Circle Hills on April 18.
Moved by Beyer and Glassheim to approve request. Motion carried. (comm. only)

b) Fenton Avenue, 100 block, on April 19.
Beth Bouley stated they will be having block party for anniversary of flood and want to block 100 block of Fenton Avenue from 1:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. Moved by Beyer and Glassheim to approve request. Motion carried. (comm. only)

2. Request from Gowan Construction for variance to noise ordinance for hauling of materials from Washington Street from 7:00 p.m.
to 7:00 a.m. for period of up to 10 days.
Jerry Gowan reported they would be starting on April 13 on demolition of S. Wash. St.; work would consist of breaking and removal of concrete and asphalt, and truck would run only on main roads - 32nd Ave.S., Washington St., DeMers Avenue and Gateway Drive. Moved by Beyer and Glassheim for approval of request of Gowan Construction for up to 10 days starting April 13.

1. Consideration of bids for auction services for annual police
auction to be held May 16, 1998.
Chief Packett reviewed tabulation of bids and additional information re. bids re. est. cost to City, employees on site, fliers, advertising and logistical equipment supplied. Mr. Dietrich was present. There was some discussion re. concern whether following bidding process. It was noted that police department had checked with Mr. Swanson and not necessary to take bids on services. Moved by Beyer and Glassheim to accept bid of Dietrich Realty and Auction Co. Motion carried.
