MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Thursday, May 28, 1998 - 10:30 a.m.
Members present: Sande, Beyer.

Application for dance hall license at South Forks pavilion.
Harold Hannah, manager of the South Forks Plaza, and Mrs. Hannah were present. It was noted that the Hannahs took over management two days ago and commitment for this event was made by previous manager with Gorje Garcia, Lawless Productions Company, 116 S. 12th St., Moorhead, MN 56560 (Phone #218-291-1356). It was noted that the company was to provide insurance, contact police department re. security, bring in permits, etc. to Mall Management. Mrs. Hannah stated they would not have allowed liquor sales with the event and would require payment prior to signing of the agreement (payment for police services would be included)
Jim Schothorst, health dept., Lt. Johnson, police dept. and Richard Westacott, fire prevention officer, were present and reviewed concerns re. the event for controlled access to the pavilion area, food service, and sale of alcoholic beverages. The committee had approved application for special alcoholic beverage to Westward Ho last evening and that Westward Ho has handled events before (area will be secured and/or wrist bands will be used). It was noted by Lt. Johnson that event will run from 7:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m., and suggested 6 police officers (cost $33/hr. It was also noted that there will be 3 live bands.
At the request of the committee, the Hannahs (Mall Management) will work with the various departments to meet their requirements for the event.
Moved by Beyer and Sande to approve dance hall license contingent upon 6 police officers for security and approval of the various departments. Motion carried. (comm. only).
