MINUTES/PUBLIC SAFETY COMMITTEE
Monday, October 19, 1998 - 6:45 p.m.

Members present: Bakken, Bouley, Martinson.

1. Consideration of bids for breathing apparatus (SCBA) for fire
department.
Deputy Chief O'Neill reported that they were suggesting rejection of bids and to make minor changes in the specs. and rebid the equipment. Chief Aulich reported that Clarey's Safety Equipment came in low, however, they did not include warranty information which was requested. After bids were opened, Clarey's apologized and stated they would provide, and difference between low bid and second low bid was $10,400+; Chief Aulich asked committee if this was major issue or minor imperfection (other bidders included warranty information).

Bouley reported present.

After some discussion committee felt it would be problem to consider this a minor irregularity, and it was moved by Bouley and Martinson to reject the bids, and to authorize staff to rebid the equipment. Motion carried.

Chief Aulich presented new specifications, substance not changed, however, new specs. clarify issue. Moved by Bouley and Martinson to approve revised plans and specifications. Motion carried.
