MINUTES/URBAN DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Monday, September 21, 1998 – 7:15 p.m.
Members present: Glassheim, Beyer.
1.
Matter of award of bids for demo of City Center Mall.
Mike Murie, EAPC, distributed copies of tabulation of bids for the project and recommended award to MTC, Inc., who was low bidder. He reviewed MTC’s bids: base bid of $124,400 and that they removed landfill tipping fees from the bid of approx. $200,000; Alt. 1, removal of 119 DeMers (closest to river, award based upon City receiving ownership); Alt 1, removal of Phoenix Block, $48,000, repair back wall; Alt. 3, Panovitz Bldg., replacing back wall.
Moved by Beyer and Glassheim to award base bid to MTC, Inc. in the amount of $124,400, and acceptance of Alternate 1 for removal of 199 DeMers Avenue in the amount of $6,600, Alternate 2 for Phoenix Block in the amount of $48,000 and Alternate 3, Panovitz Building in the amount of $43,000. Motion carried.
2.
Change Order for waterline extension.
Request from the engineering department to add waterline extension on west side of the street going across to the east side of Osco building, subbing in across street if make building on that side. Moved by Beyer and Glassheim to approve change order to add waterline extension on west side of street in Mall area in the amount of $4,000. Motion carried.
3.
Matter of bridge financing for Congressional 1 and 2.
The matter of request for bridge financing for Congressional 1 and 2 was considered. After discussion it was moved by Beyer and Glassheim to recommend approval, with funding of $500,000 from Loan Stabilization Fund and $1 million from surplus sales tax at 6% interest, City to have mortgage on all developed lots. Motion carried.
