Committee Minutes

MINUTES/FINANCE COMMITTEE
Tuesday, April 13, 1999 - 3:45 p.m.

Members present: Babinchak, Brooks, Carpenter, Hamerlik.
(Candi Stjern, staff)

1. Matter of application for 3-year exemption of improvements
to commercial/residential buildings:______________________
a) E & L Investments, Inc., 3615 Gateway Drive (Highway Host Restaurant).
Mel Carsen, city assessor, reported they have done extensive remodeling job, mainly on inside and some on outside, and clearly qualifies for the three-year exemption. It was noted that the owner of the building hasn’t changed; and Terry Jenson has been leasing the restaurant for several years and will continue to lease building.

Moved by Carpenter and Brooks to approve the application for the three-year exemption. Motion carried.

Mr. Carsen reported to committee that he checked with Mr. Swanson to see if they failed to have a quorum for the Board of Equalization meeting this evening, would still meet, that they don’t have much business to do other than receive protests and adjourn to a date certain; and in talking to him it wasn’t critically important to call and remind anybody of the meeting.
He also stated they have not mailed any notices of increase in taxes as yet. Mr. Carsen stated that the council took action last week to extend the Board meeting to May 17. Information.

Moved by Hamerlik and Brooks to adjourn; meeting adjourned at 3:50 p.m.
