MINUTES
BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
Monday, April 15, 2002
The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota was called to meet as the Board of Equalization in the council chambers on Monday, April 15, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. with Mayor Brown presiding. Present at roll call were Council Members Brooks, Bjerke, Stevens, Hamerlik, Burke, Glassheim, Gershman, Lunak, Christensen, Kerian, Bakken, Kreun - 12; absent: Council Members Klave, Martinson - 2.
Mel Carsen, city assessor, reported that last week after the Board of Equalization meeting was over, there was an additional person who came in to present a protest of valuation of his property - James Hawley, 322 DeMers Avenue.
Mr. Carsen stated the Board would need to set a time to hear the protests that were filed and suggested by the committee of the whole on May 13, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. It was moved by Council Member Kerian and seconded by Council Member Kreun to set the meeting as suggested. Carried 12 votes affirmative.
RECESS
Mr. Carsen also suggested that they would need to schedule a date when the council would sit as the Board of Equalization and suggested May 20. It was moved by Council Member Bakken and seconded by Council Member Brooks that the Board of Equalization recess to and reconvene on May 20, 2002 at 7:00 p.m. Carried 12 votes affirmative.
It was moved by Council Member Brooks and seconded by Council Member Bakken that we recess as moved. Carried 12 votes affirmative.
