MINUTES
Grand Forks Civil Service Commission
November 10, 2005
Chairperson Johnson called the Grand Forks Civil Service Commission to order at
3:43PM. Commissioners Nies, Kvasager, Bredemeier and Johnson present.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Kvasager and seconded by Nies to approve the October 13, 2005
regular meeting minutes as presented. All approve, motion carried.

CHANGES/ADDITIONS
Mr. Hovland presented that he was pulling the selection criteria for the Office
Specialist, Senior in the Fire Department as criteria already exists for the
position.

REASSIGNMENT REGISTER
Equipment Operator, Senior (Street Division)
It was moved by Nies and seconded by Bredemeier to approve the reassignment
register at 72.355% for the Equipment Operator, Senior (Streets) position as
follows:

Matthew Aarvig
Terry Hjelmen
Kenny Cunningham
Brian Gourneau
Walter Nowling
Joseph Schmidt
All approve, motion carried.

ELIGIBILITY REGISTER
Community Health Nurse
It was moved by Bredemeier and seconded by Nies to approve the eligibility
register at 76.00% for the Community Health Nurse position as follows:
Theresa Knox
Amy Knutson
Bonnie Kolden
Lynette Boese
Haley Swanson
All approve, motion carried.

HR INFORMATION ITEMS
Interim Appointment Notifications
City Electrician
Mr. Hovland reported per 6-0524(1) to the Commission that Rick Hanson has been
appointed to the position of City Electrician for a 90 day period.
City Planner
Mr. Hovland reported per 6-0524(2) to the Commission that Brad Gengler has been
appointed to the position of City Planner for a 180 day period.

INFORMATION ONLY
Human Resources Director
Civil Service Commissioners congratulated Daryl Hovland who was appointed to
the permanent position of Human Resources Director on October 31, 2005 by Mayor
Brown.

Affirmative Action Plan
Mr. Hovland distributed the City of Grand Forks Affirmative Action Plan to the
Commissioners.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Kvasager and seconded by Bredemeier to adjourn the November 10,
2005 regular meeting. All approve, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at
4:25PM.
