PROCEEDINGS OF THE CITY COUNCIL
OF THE CITY OF GRAND FORKS, NORTH DAKOTA
June 27, 2006

The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota met in its organization session in the council chambers in City Hall on Tuesday, June 27, 2006 at hour of 7:00 o'clock p.m. with Mayor Brown residing.

ADMINISTER OATHS OF OFFICE TO MUNICIPAL JUDGE

Mayor Brown administered the oath of office to Henry J. Eslinger as municipal judge of the city of Grand Forks for a our-year term expiring in June, 2010.

Municipal Judge Henry Eslinger administered oaths of office to newly elected members of the city council for terms of four years expiring in June, 2010: Michael F. McNamara, second ward; Harold A. Gershman, fourth ward.

Arthur Bakken, sixth ward, was not present and his oath had been administered.

Present at roll call wee Council Members Brooks, McNamara (teleconference), Glassheim, Gershman, Christensen, Kreun -6; absent: Council Member Bakken - 1.

TABLE ELECTION OF COUNCIL OFFICERS

Mayor Brown announced that the city council would now proceed to organize.

Council Member Gershman moved to table the election of officers (president and vice president) until a later date. Council Member Kreun seconded the motion.

Howard Swanson, city attorney, advised that under the City Code the council has until August 1 to elect new officials for the city council.

Upon call for the question and upon voice vote, the motion carried 6 votes affirmative.

APPROVE APPOINTMENT OF CITY ATTORNEY

Mayor Brown announced the appointment of Howard D. Swanson as city attorney for a period of two years, June 2008. It was moved by Council Member Brooks and seconded by Council Member Kreun to confirm the mayor's appointment of Mr. Swanson as city attorney. Carried 6 votes affirmative.

ADJOURN

It was moved by Council Member Brooks and seconded by Council Member Kreun that we adjourn. Carried 6 votes affirmative.
