Youth Protective Risk Factor Survey
o Powerpoint by Mary Lien.
o Question asked: What influences kids then and now. Answer: 50 years ago – 1. Home 2. School 3. Church 4. Peers 5. Media. Today – 1. Media 2. Peers 3. Home 4. School 5. Church.
o The Survey Panel consisted of Bill Chase, Middle School Counselor; Deb Davis, NEHS; Shawn Peterson, Director of Juvenile Court Services; Jim Murphy, UND Counseling Center.
o Questions by students: Do you think drinking is s problem in the community and what do you think you can do about it.
Think Twice Update
– Week of October 22 – 26, 2012:
o Red River – Daily trivia on morning announcements, pledges done on Wednesday, October 24, wear orange on Friday, videos played.
o Central – Display set up in lunch room, Thursday and Friday pledges will be done.
o South – Planned activities for each day of the week.
o Schroeder – still working on.
o Valley – Plan includes showing a video and discussion; sign banners at lunch time.
o Festival of Trees – missed deadline.
o Christmas in the Park – schedule a day to paint materials.
o First Night, (9pm – 12am) – Group consensus that it is a good idea but not enough time to plan and coordinate this event. Keep in mind for next year. Start planning in September. Maybe try planning something for something in February.
