A Community Partnership to End Underage Drinking

Slogan: As far as Underage Drinking goes…..”It’s Not Ok!”

Potential Partnerships: Students and parents in partnership with the City of Grand Forks,Grand Forks City Council, Local Law Enforcement, Grand Forks Schools, Lutheran Social Services, UND – University Counseling Center, Northern Valley Safe Communities Coalition, Safe Kids, YMCA, Youth For Christ/4Fourteen, National Night Out, PIC – Parent Information Center, and area residents and merchants.

Objectives of the program -“It’s Not Ok!’:
  1. A change in the local culture about underage drinking in Grand Forks to where there is a clear opposition to underage drinking by students and adults, including the availability of alcohol to minors through adults.
  2. Educate students and adults in Grand Forks about underage drinking in our community.
  3. Promote policies, laws and enforcement that reduce underage drinking.
Goals of the program:
  1. A shift in culture that demonstrates a recognition that as far as underage drinking goes, saying “It’s Not Ok” is the right thing to do and there is a lot of community support behind this position.
  2. Reinforce adult’s approach to zero-tolerance underage drinking and train youth on skills required to educate, motivate, mobilize and act on the underage alcohol issue.
  3. Create a viable project, through the youth personal fundraising, that will reduce underage drinking and irresponsible drinking by adults.
