The GFII Speakers Bureau Program will provide access to speakers knowledgeable about refugees and immigration. The GFII seeks to enhance community awareness and understanding of refugees and immigrants. The Speakers Bureau will foster and open community conversation on "Refugees, Immigrants and Grand Forks" and encourage the community to be welcoming to all people and embrace a common idea of a "Welcoming Grand Forks."

Purpuse of the GFII Speakers Bureau Program:
  1. Provide access to speakers knowledgeable about refugees and immigration.
  2. Enhance community awareness and understanding of refugees and immigrants.
  3. Continue to foster an open community conversation on the topic of “Refugees, Immigrants and Grand Forks.”
  4. Encourage Grand Forks community to be welcoming to all people and share a common idea of a “Welcoming Grand Forks”.
Format:
  • Individuals from the GFII Steering Committee volunteer to give presentations
  • Presentations are structured to last between 15 and 20 minutes
  • Longer presentations including power points and videos are also available
  • Two minutes of introduction materials will be provided to all presenters
  • A Glossary of Common Terms, Frequently Asked Questions and “How to take the Next Step” sections will be provided to the audience
  • After the two-minute scripted introduction, speakers are available to speak to integration efforts in general or on a number of specific topics including:
    The Refugee Experience
    Immigration Law
    Public Safety
    Resettlement Process
    Public Health & Health Services
    Customers & Employees
    Navigating Culture
    Integrating Refugees through Volunteers and Mentors
