In Grand Forks, the voters elect the mayor who serves a four year term. The mayor's position is part-time and pays $24,000 a year.

The mayor is primarily responsible for overseeing the daily administration of city government. This involves working directly with City Departments and Department Heads to ensure the proper provision of services to the residents of Grand Forks
