New Ward & Precinct Maps

Every 10 years the census which provides a new look at population numbers for federal, state and local governments. At the state level this requires the development of a legislative redistricting plan. The state legislature approved this plan during a special session in November of 2011. The local jurisdictions must alter their ward and precinct boundaries to accommodate the new legislative districts. Within the City of Grand Forks there are four legislative districts. These four districts are broken into seven city council wards.

The Grand Forks population as of the 2010 census was 52,887. With seven wards, this provides an average ward size of 7,555. Using ten percent deviation as the maximum for a standard rule, the minimum for each ward can be 7,177 and the maximum can be 7,933.
