Grand Forks Mayor Michael R. Brown presented his 2011 State of the City Address today, February 23, 2011 at The Alerus Center. The 30 minute speech focuses on “The Grand Forks Promise” to ensure the community measures up to the standards that businesses and residents demand.

“I want people to be engaged so they are encouraged to innovate and help build our future,” said Brown. “We have a competitive edge in Grand Forks and in North Dakota, but we need to focus on how to keep that edge.”

The Mayor also referred to local economic development as “economic gardening”, by growing from within, weeding out barriers that restrict growth, providing fertile ground to allow businesses to prosper and provide the tools necessary to get the job done.

The address will be rebroadcast locally on GFTV Channel 2 on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 9 a.m. and 10 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays at 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. through March 13th.
