MINUTES
Grand Forks Civil Service Commission
June 12, 2003
The Grand Forks Civil Service Commission was called to order at 3:30PM by
Vice-Chairperson Johnson. Commissioners Bredemeier, MacGregor and Nies present,
Commissioner Kvasager absent.

CHANGES/ADDITIONS TO AGENDA
Daryl Hovland, Assistant HR Director, presented the following changes/additions
to the agenda:
1) Probation Extension for Public Transportation employee.
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Nies to approve the additions to the
agenda. All approve, motion carried.

APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Nies and seconded by Bredemeier to approve the May 8, 2003
regular meeting minutes as presented. All approve, motion carried.

REASSIGNMENT WRITTEN EXAMINATION CUT-OFF
Equipment Operator, Senior – Street
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to approve the written
examination cut-off at 59.14% thereby allowing eight (8) candidates to
interview. All approve, motion carried.

APPROVAL OF UPDATED 2003 SELECTION CRITERIA
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to approve the changes to
the 2003 Selection Criteria for all City positions as outlined in the packet.
Discussion held regarding some Public Works employees concern for the equipment
operator points in the examination being lowered to 25 points. Mr. Feland
stated the points are now consistent between his divisions. All approve, motion
carried.

EXTENSION OF PROBATION FOR PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION EMPLOYEE
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Bredemeier to support the Mayor’s
request to extend the probationary period for Patricia Sears for a period up to
six (6) months from July 1, 2003 to January 1, 2004. Discussion held regarding
performance. All approve, motion carried.

ADJOURNMENT
It was moved by Bredemeier and seconded by Nies to adjourn the June 12, 2003
Civil Service Commission meeting. All approve, meeting adjourned. The meeting
adjourned at approximately 4:30PM.
