CITY OF GRAND FORKS - BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
May 1, 2000

The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota was called to meet as the Board of Equalization in the city council chambers on Monday, May 1, 2000 at 7:15 p.m. as required by the North Dakota Century Code, with Mayor Owens presiding. Present at roll call were Council Members Brooks, Lucke, Hamerlik, Bouley, Glassheim, Carpenter, Lunak, Klave, Beyer, Babinchak, Bakken, Hafner, Martinson - 13; absent: Council Member Polovitz - 1.

APPROVE MINUTES

Typewritten copies of the minutes of the Board of Equalization meeting held on Tuesday, April 11, 2000 had been distributed to the members of the Board.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY
AT 105 VICTORIA COURT

Committee No. 1, Finance, reported having considered the matter of protests of 2000 assessor’s valuation of property by Dick Evers, 105 Victoria Court, and recommended to uphold the city assessor’s recommendation of a value of $86,900.00 for 105 Victoria Court, down from a 1999 value of $91,600.

It was moved by Council Member Hamerlik and seconded by Council Member Brooks that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN VALUATION OF PROPERTY
AT 2114 12TH AVENUE NORTH

Committee No. 1, Finance, reported having considered the matter of protests of 2000 assessor’s valuation of property by Jeff Stumpf, 2114 12th Avenue North, and recommended to reduce the assessor’s valuation of 2114 12th Avenue North from $65,900.00 to $62,800.00.

It was moved by Council Member Hamerlik and seconded by Council Member Brooks that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 2218 32ND AVENUE SOUTH

Committee No. 1, Finance, reported having considered the matter of protests of 2000 assessor’s valuation of property by Greg Schneider, Dakota TV & Appliance, 2218 32nd Avenue South, and recommended to take the assessor’s recommendation to reduce the valuation of the property at 2218 32nd Avenue South to $716,800 from $825,800.

It was moved by Council Member Hamerlik and seconded by Council Member Brooks that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

UPHOLD ASSESSOR’S VALUATION OF PROPERTY
AT 224 NORTH 4TH STREET

Committee No. 1, Finance, reported having considered the matter of protests of 2000 assessor’s valuation of property by Greg Schneider, 224 North 4th Street, and recommended to uphold the recommendation of the city assessor at a valuation of $180,500 for 224 North 4th Street.

It was moved by Council Member Hamerlik and seconded by Council Member Brooks that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

CERTIFY ASSESSMENTS TO COUNTY AUDITOR

It was moved by Council Member Klave and seconded by Council Member Babinchak that the tax rolls as presented by the city assessor and as equalized by the Board of Equalization be and are hereby certified to the county auditor, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Upon roll call the following voted “aye”: Council Members Brooks, Lucke, Hamerlik, Bouley, Glassheim, Carpenter, Lunak, Klave, Beyer, Babinchak, Bakken, Hafner, Martinson - 13; voting “nay”: none. Mayor Owens declared the motion carried and the assessments certified.

ADJOURN

It was moved by Council Member Klave and seconded by Council Member Bakken that we do now adjourn sine die. Carried 13 votes affirmative.
