MINUTES/URBAN DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE
Monday, August 15, 1994 - 7:00 p.m.

Members present: Beach, Glassheim.

1. Matter of Grand Forks Affordable Housing Project.
Curt Siewert reviewed change orders for change in materials for 11 houses under construction in Burdick's Resubdivision:
C.O. #1 - $794.35 - change in window header material,
C.O. #2 - $3,337.35 - change in sheathing material from gypsum board to 7/16" waferboard,
C.O. #3 - $4,759.40 - change in quality and type of shingle from Royal Sovereign to Horizon (better selection of colors), and increases aesthetics of houses. He reported that these change orders were in original plans but staff cut to keep costs down. Moved by Glassheim and Beach that the change orders be approved. Motion carried.

Mr. O'Leary reported that they are focusing on large families and greatest need, and are in the process of selecting families.

2. Matter of TAG expansion.
Mr. O'Leary reviewed proposed expansion of the building.
He reported that once bids come in, will bring back to committee.
Moved by Glassheim and Beach that we authorize call for bids for the project. Motion carried.

3. The committee discussed hearings re. housing costs, ways to save money on both rental and other costs of single family housing, need to open more land for development, diminish some requirements, ie., up-front monies. Committee will request within next 2-4 weeks secondary committee to invite public to give input.
