June 6, 1994

The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota was called to meet as the Board of Equalization in the city council chambers by Mayor Polovitz on Monday, June 6, 1994 at 7:00 p.m. as required by the North Dakota Century Code. Present were Council Members Beach, Hoeppner, Kulas, Glassheim, Crawford, Car-
penter, Beyer, Shores, Johnson, Hagness - 10; absent: Hanson - 1.

APPROVE MINUTES

Typewritten copies of the minutes of the Board meeting held on Monday, May 2, 1994 were presented and read. It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member Kulas that the minutes be approved as read. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION
OF PROPERTY AT 5311 CHESTNUT STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Albert Miller on valuation of property at 5311 Chestnut Street, and recommended that the market value of the property be reduced from $84,300 to $73,400.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUE OF PROPERTY
AT 520 PLUM AVENUE

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Darlyne Hegg on valuation of property at 520 Plum Avenue, and recommended to accept the assessor's recommendation to reduce market value to $84,100, subject to receiving three-year tax exemption application.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
505 PAKENHAM AVENUE

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Arnold Westgard on valuation of property at 505 Pakenham Avenue, and recommended that we accept the assessor's value of $64,000 on the property.

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Rodney Medalen on valuation of property at 3504 11th Avenue North, Ivy League Estates, Unit #21 and Unit #7, and recommended that we uphold the values set by the assessor's office.

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Eugene Barna on valuation of property at 1120 South 36th Street, and recommended to accept the assessor's recommendation to uphold their value from 1994 of $110,000 ($185,000 less $75,000 exemption).

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 1138 SOUTH 36TH STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Cindy Filler on valuation of property at 1138 South 36th Street, and recommended to set valuation of the property at $178,600, less $75,000 exemption, for a value of $103,600.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 1506 SOUTH 19TH STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Donna Whaley on valuation of property at 1506 South 19th Street and recommended to accept the assessor's recommendation to reduce value from $71,000 to $68,200.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 624 SOUTH 9TH STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Lynn Wright and Beth Benson on valuation of property at 624 South 9th Street, and recommended that we approve assessor's recommendation to reduce the 1994 value from $61,400 to $57,900.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

APPROVE REDUCTION IN ASSESSED VALUATION OF
PROPERTY AT 1203 SOUTH 22ND STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by Joel D. Medd on valuation of property at 1203 South 22nd Street, and recommended to approve assessor's recommendation to reduce value from $111,500 to $109,400.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
121 8TH AVENUE SOUTH

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest by John Cowger on valuation of property at 121 8th Avenue South, and recommended that the assessor's valuation of $115,600 be reduced to $109,100 due to approval of the three-year remodeling exemption.

It was moved by Council Member Shores and seconded by Council Member McCabe that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 13 votes affirmative.

CERTIFY ASSESSMENTS TO COUNTY AUDITOR

It was moved by Council Member Hoeppner and seconded by Council Member Kulas that the tax rolls as presented by the city assessor and as equalized by the Board of Equalization be and are hereby certified to the county auditor, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Upon roll call the following voted "aye": Council Members Beach, McCabe, Hoeppner, Kulas, Glassheim, Crawford, Carpenter, Lien, Beyer, Shores, Geller, Johnson, Hagness - 13; voting "nay": none. Mayor Polovitz declared the motion carried and the assessments certified.
