City of Grand Forks, North Dakota


	MINUTES/FINANCE COMMITTEE Monday, April 15, 1996 - 7:15 p.m. Members present: Geller, Babinchak, McCabe. 1. Matter of amending Sections 2-0201 of the City Code relating to effective date of standing committee appointments. It was noted that an ordinance had not been introduced at the last meeting, that the matter had been sent back to committee in its entirety. Moved by Babinchak and Geller to introduce the ordinance for first reading to amend the City Code to change the appointment date from May 1 to August 1. Motion carried. McCabe reported present. 2. Matter of funding for professional baseball (Grand Forks Varmints). David Thompson, attorney, and Ken Leip, president, Grand Forks Professional Baseball, Inc., were present. It was noted that at the last meeting the committee held this item to see what Park District's intentions were. Moved by McCabe and Babinchak that the City enter into a joint powers agreement with the Park District, allocate up to $65,000 from the Loan and Stabilization Fund for the acquisition and installation of bleachers and for the rental of portable restroom facilities, concession stands and related facilities.
