MINUTES
CITY OF GRAND FORKS - BOARD OF EQUALIZATION
October 6, 1997

The city council of the city of Grand Forks, North Dakota sitting as the Board of Equalization met in the council chambers in City Hall on Monday, October 6, 1997 at 7:05 p.m. as required by the North Dakota Century Code, with Mayor Owens presiding. Present at roll call were Council Members Beach, Hamerlik, Carpenter, Sande, Klave, Beyer, Babinchak, Bakken, Hafner, Hagness - 10; absent: Council Members Polovitz, Glassheim - 2; 2 seats vacant.

APPROVE MINUTES

Typewritten copies of the minutes of the Board meetings held on May 5 and June 2, 1997 which minutes had been mailed to the council members were presented and read. It was moved by Council Member Hafner and seconded by Council Member Klave to approve the minutes as read. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
2333 SOUTH 38TH STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having con-sidered the protest of 1997 assessor's valuation by Wayne and Carol Carlson, 2333 South 38th Street, and recommended to uphold the assessor's valuation.

It was moved by Council Member Babinchak and seconded by Council Member Bakken that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
819 SOUTH 46TH STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having con-sidered protest of 1997 assessor's valuation by Coca-Cola Enter-prises, 819 South 46th Street, and recommended to uphold the assessor's valuation.

It was moved by Council Member Babinchak and seconded by Council Member Bakken that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

ACCEPT VALUATION OF ASSESSOR ON PROPERTY AT
1322 12TH AVENUE SOUTH

The finance committee of the city council reported having con-sidered protest of 1997 assessor's valuation by First National Bank, Trustee for Bertha Byrne, 1322 12th Avenue South, and recommended to uphold the assessor's valuation.

It was moved by Council Member Babinchak and seconded by Council Member Bakken that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Page 2

Carried 10 votes affirmative.

RECEIVE AND FILE PROTEST OF 1997 ASSESSOR'S
VALUES ON MARCIL FAMILY PARTNERSHIP-WDAZ 8,
2220 SOUTH WASHINGTON STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered the protest of 1997 assessor's values on Marcil Family Partnership-WDAZ 8, 2220 South Washington Street, and recommended to receive and file.

It was moved by Council Member Babinchak and seconded by Council Member Bakken that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

ESTABLISH AN APPRAISED VALUE ON SOUTH
FORKS PLAZA PROPERTY, 1726 SOUTH WASHINGTON
STREET

The finance committee of the city council reported having considered protest of 1997 assessor's values on South Forks Plaza, J. Herzog & Sons, Inc., 1726 South Washington Street, and recommended to establish an appraised value of $3,764,000.

It was moved by Council Member Babinchak and seconded by Council Member Bakken that this recommendation be and is hereby approved. Carried 10 votes affirmative.

CERTIFY ASSESSMENTS TO COUNTY AUDITOR

It was moved by Council Member Klave and seconded by Council Member Babinchak that the tax rolls as presented by the city assessor and as equalized by the Board of Equalization be and are hereby certified to the county auditor, Grand Forks County, North Dakota. Upon roll call the following voted "aye": Council Members Beach, Hamerlik, Carpenter, Sande, Klave, Beyer, Babinchak, Bakken, Hafner, Hagness - 10; voting "nay": none. Mayor Owens declared the motion carried and the assessments certified.

ADJOURN

It was moved by Council Member Carpenter and seconded by Council Member Hamerlik that we do now adjourn sine die. Carried 10 votes affirmative.
