MINUTES
Grand Forks Civil Service Commission
August 11, 2005
Chairperson Johnson called the Grand Forks Civil Service Commission to order at 3:34PM. Commissioners MacGregor, Nies, Kvasager and Johnson present. Commissioner Bredemeier absent.
APPROVAL OF MINUTES
It was moved by Nies and seconded by MacGregor to approve the July 14, 2005 regular meeting minutes as presented. All approve, motion carried.
CHANGES/ADDITIONS
None

REASSIGNMENT REGISTER
Firefighter, Senior
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Nies to approve the examination cut-off at 54.4270%, thereby establishing a reassignment register for the Firefighter, Senior as follows:
Jerod Kurtz
Michael Andrews
All approve, motion carried.

SELECTION CRITERIA – REASSIGNMENT REGISTER
Administrative Specialist – City Wide Register
Discussion held regarding establishing a city wide register for clerical positions. Human Resources proposed establishing city wide registers for office and administrative clerical positions from which the City would have availability to select from rather than by department. Ie. Advertising for Administrative Specialist city-wide applicant pool versus Administrative Services – Public Transportation.

After further concern and discussion, it was moved by Nies and seconded by MacGregor to approve advertising the Administrative Specialist – Public Transportation with the following changes to selection criteria:
1 Commissioner – 50 points Interview
1 Dept. Head/Designee – 25 points Interview
1 HR Dir/Designee – 25 points Interview
Including minimum typing test requirements. HR was asked to present the item for discussion with Department Heads to gather their input. All approve, motion carried.

ELIGIBILITY REGISTER
Community Health Nurse Register Extension
It was moved by Commissioner Kvasager and seconded by Nies to extend the eligibility register for the position of Community Health Nurse to September 30, 2005. All approve, motion carried.
RE-EMPLOYMENT REGISTER REQUEST
OFFICE SPECIALIST, SENIOR – Amanda Ketterling
IT SPECIALIST – Michelle Rakoczy
It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Kvasager to approve both requests for placement on the reemployment register. All approve, motion carried.

REMINDER WORKING/LEARNING SESSION
Chapter 6 – Article 1/2/3
August 18, 2005 3:30 – 5:00PM
City Hall Room A101.
No action necessary.

Schedule for next working/learning session
The next working/learning session is scheduled for October 20, 2005 from 3:30 – 5:00 PM in City Hall Room A101.

It was moved by MacGregor and seconded by Kvasager to adjourn the August 11, 2005 regular meeting. All approve, motion carried. The meeting was adjourned at 4:32PM.
