Grand Forks, ND – The City of Grand Forks will celebrate Earth Week in conjunction with the University of North Dakota during the week of April 25 through April 30, 2011. The following is a list of activities that will take place.

Earth Day – Friday, April 22, 2011

· Learn how to save energy, help the environment and save money through simple green actions. Take the Doing Our Part pledge at http://www.grandforksgov.com/gfgov/home.nsf/GreenPages/Doing+Our+Part

Earth Week – Monday, April 25 through Saturday, April 30

· Monday, April 25 – Sign up for an Energy Audit of your home. Learn how your home uses energy and how you can save energy and money by making some energy efficiency upgrades. See information at http://www.grandforksgov.com/gfgov/home.nsf/GreenPages/GFEA. Residents of Grand Forks City and County are also eligible for low interest loans for residential energy efficiency upgrades.

· Tuesday, April 26, 10:30 a.m. & 4:30 p.m.Tours of Water Treatment Plant for UND.

· Wednesday, April 27, 2:00 – 6:00 p.m. – Visit the City of Grand Forks exhibit at the UND Earth Week Expo at the UND Wellness Center.

· Wednesday, April 27, 4:30 p.m. & 5:15 p.m. – Learn about composting at the Composting Information Session at UND Wellness Center.

· Thursday, April 28 – Learn how Grand Forks provides the best tasting tap water in North Dakota and what will be happening at the Amazing Grains Community Garden this year - Tours of Water Treatment Plant and Amazing Grains Community Garden for community members, 5:30 p.m.

· Friday, April 29 – Check the City of Grand Forks Web site to see how City employees make Grand Forks Green Forks – www.grandforksgov.com

· Saturday, April 30, 10:00 a.m. - 1:00 p.m. – Electronics Collection Event -Drop off your unwanted electronics for recycling and proper disposal at the Grand Forks Public Works building, 724 47th St. N. - Sponsored by the City of Grand Forks recycling contractor, WMI.
