    NARRATIVE

At 12:27pm on February 9, 2013 the Grand Forks Police Department responded to the complaint of a possible propane leak at 1623 Dyke Avenue. Upon arrival officers noted an overwhelming propane smell and observed a 500 gallon propane tank was actively leaking. Responding officers cordoned off the area and requested the Grand Forks Fire Department respond.

Officers evacuated residents in the immediate area as the fire department worked to contain the propane leak. Investigation later determined that the propane tank was a salvaged tank being stored at 1623 Dyke Avenue and the leak was due to someone removing a valve from it.

This incident is under investigation and anyone who observed suspicious activity in this area or who may have information regarding this incident is encouraged to contact the police department at 701-787-8000.
