Properties owned by charitable organizations and used for charitable purposes may be eligible for a property tax exemption.  The organization must be non-profit and qualify as tax exempt under section 501(c)(3) of the US Internal Revenue Code. Those qualifying for this exemption must also own, occupy, and use the property the exemption is claimed on for charitable purposes.

Applications are filed with the Grand Forks Assessing Department office annually. For first time applicants, proof of 501 (c) (3) status is required and a copy of the organization by-laws and articles of incorporation.

NOTE: Provide a current copy of organizational documents supporting claim (e.g., articles of incorporation and by-laws, etc.) if claiming exemption for first time or upon request.
