This reconstruction project consists of removal and replacement of pavement, curb and gutter, driveway approaches, alley approaches, sidewalk approaches and street lights. Sanitary sewer and water manholes and gate valve boxes will be adjusted to new pavement elevations. Storm sewer manholes and catch basins will be adjusted or replaced to meet new pavement grades. This existing concrete roadway was constructed in approximately 1950 with 6 inches of concrete on a clay base. The concrete surface received a 1 ½ inch asphalt overlay in 2000 and that was seal coated in 2008. The current pavement surface is in poor condition with severe cracking, broken and potholed sections, and heaved sections affecting the quality of ride. The existing curb and gutters are very flat with some negative drainage that often exhibits standing water.
