Storm Clean Up:

City crews will be making one complete pass of the city and pick up trees and debris from the berms.  This process will take about 2 weeks.

Mayor Michael, R. Brown has asked that, based on evaluating the depth and breadth of impact, the city is going to assist residents with the pickup of storm related debris.

“It’s the right thing to do and we have a team that gets things done” said Mayor Brown.  “Crews from city and parks are already in clean up mode and doing a great job since Sunday’s storm.  We have also literally seen tons of examples of neighbors helping neighbors.”

We hope to be done in a couple of weeks and people are continued to be encouraged to take their debris to drop off sites or the landfill, as they are able, to assist with the speed of clean up.

Here is the plan:

  • The City will work to make one complete pass through the city and pick up trees and tree debris from the berm.  On Monday, July 9, 2018, 50 tons of tree debris was hauled from the drop off sites to the city landfill.
  • Crews will be following the Street Maintenance Schedule as they work in the city.
  • The work to make one complete pass through the city is expected to take a couple of weeks.
  • Residents still have the ability to haul their debris to one of the 2 drop sites in Grand Forks (Public Works, 724 N. 47th St. or Williamson Field, Demers Ave. and 5th Ave. S.)
  • Residents can also haul to the landfill.  The city has waived fees for tree debris at the landfill.  The City has extended the waived fees through Saturday.  Landfill hours: (M-F 8 am – 4 pm, Sat. 8 am – 11 am)
  • The Grand Forks Park District continues to work on the damaged trees on the berms and in the parks throughout the city.

The city is constantly evaluating the storm clean-up efforts in Grand Forks and will make adjustments as necessary.  For updates on storm clean-up visit www.grandforksgov.com or follow the city on social media (Facebook: City of Grand Forks – Government, Twitter: @GrandForksCity, Instagram: @GrandForksND)
