1. Members; Appointment; Terms

The board shall consist of the city engineer, or the authorized representative, city electrical inspector, who shall serve as executive secretary and who shall not be a voting member, and four (4) other members to be appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council for a period of two (2) years each or until their successors are appointed and approved, and they shall serve without compensation. The term of office of the four (4) appointed members shall expire on the same day as now prescribed for the expiration of terms of the appointive officers of the city. The four (4) members appointed shall consist of one (1) electrical contractor with at least five (5) years' contracting experience, one (1) master or journeyman electrician with at least five (5) years' practical experience, one (1) member representing the electrical industry, and one (1), member representing a related industry. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner and from the same class to which the retiring member belongs. This board shall schedule at least one (1) meeting a year and no more than twelve (12).

2. Duties

The city electrical board shall select from its members a chair and vice chair, prescribe rules for the management of its affairs, and review applications for city electrical contractors licensed within the city when referred to said board. The board shall also adopt rules and regulations to govern the duties and affairs on all items being recommended to the council for adoption and any other related items relating to the electrical industry where public welfare and safety are involved.

To speak during Citizen Comments: Complete a comment card with required speaker information - speaker’s name, address, and the item or topic to be commented upon.  Place the comment card in the basket prior to start of the Citizen Comments.  Speakers have three minutes to share their comments.  Time cannot be transferred from one speaker to another.  The total time for Citizen Comments is capped at 30 minutes.  

Submission of written comments: In lieu of speaking, a written comment can be submitted by placing in the tray next to the speaker card basket prior to the start of the meeting.  Written comments are limited to two and a half pages. Written comments will be distributed to the City Council for their information and maintained in city files.
