1. Members; Appointment; Terms

The board shall consist of the city engineer, or the authorized representative, city electrical inspector, who shall serve as executive secretary and who shall not be a voting member, and four (4) other members to be appointed by the mayor and approved by the city council for a period of two (2) years each or until their successors are appointed and approved, and they shall serve without compensation. The term of office of the four (4) appointed members shall expire on the same day as now prescribed for the expiration of terms of the appointive officers of the city. The four (4) members appointed shall consist of one (1) electrical contractor with at least five (5) years' contracting experience, one (1) master or journeyman electrician with at least five (5) years' practical experience, one (1) member representing the electrical industry, and one (1), member representing a related industry. Vacancies shall be filled in the same manner and from the same class to which the retiring member belongs. This board shall schedule at least one (1) meeting a year and no more than twelve (12).

2. Duties

The city electrical board shall select from its members a chair and vice chair, prescribe rules for the management of its affairs, and review applications for city electrical contractors licensed within the city when referred to said board. The board shall also adopt rules and regulations to govern the duties and affairs on all items being recommended to the council for adoption and any other related items relating to the electrical industry where public welfare and safety are involved.

Board of Adjustments Meeting Agenda

Please be informed that the meeting date to hear these variances is scheduled for Thursday, April 9, 2026, at 10:30 a.m. in person in room 201 at City Hall 255 N. 4th Street, to consider the appeals below.

Members of the Grand Forks Board of Adjustments may be attending this meeting in person, electronically or telephonically.

     1. Bernhardt LLC, 2626 4th Ave. N., has made a request for variance to impervious surface area coverage and parking requirements [Section 18-0208(7) 18-0302(5)              (B) of the Land Development Code] in order to add parking in the front yard. Legal Description: Lots 13 & 14, Block 3 of Kelsey's 3rd Addition.

     2. Bryce & Brianne O'Neill, 999 Cedar Burls Dr., has made a request for variance to impervious surface area coverage and accessory building requirements [Section           18-0208(7) & 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to build a detached garage. Legal Description: Lot 1, Block 4 of Crary's 6th Resubdivision.

     3. Scott Meland on behalf of Lucas & Stephanie Wynne, 2703 Cherry St., has made a request for variance to impervious surface area coverage and side yard                         setback requirements [Section 180208(7) & (9) of the Land Development Code] in order to build an addition. Legal Description: Lot 20, Block 2 of the White Clover           Sub-division.
