1. Purpose

A board to be known as the city mechanical board is hereby created for the purpose of licensing mechanical contractors and to adopt rules and regulations to govern the installation of mechanical equipment.

2. Members; Terms

The board shall consist of the city engineer and five (5) other members to be appointed by the city council for a period of three (3) years each or until their successors are appointed and qualified. The term of office of the five (5) appointive members shall expire on staggering schedules. The five (5) members appointed shall consist of two (2) master mechanical installers with at least five (5) years' practical experience and one (1) journeyman mechanical installer with at least five (5) years' practical experience and two (2) other persons in a related industry. A quorum shall consist of four (4) members.

RE:        Board of Adjustments Meeting Agenda

Please be informed that the meeting date to hear these variances is scheduled for Thursday, Auqust 13,  2026, at 10:30 a.m. in person in the City Council Chambers at City Hall 255 N. 4th Street, to consider the appeals below. Members of the Grand Forks Board of Adjustments may be attending this meeting in person, electronically or telephonically.

1.           Tim Rosencrans, on behalf of Craftsmen Real Estate Management, 221 Conklin St., has made a request for variance to impervious surface area coverage requirements [Section 180209(7) of the Land Development Code] in order to build a patio on the new construction. Legal Description: Lots 27 & 28 Block 8 of Riverside Park Addition.

2.           Cam Tweten, on behalf of Jon Olson, 36 Edgewood Ct., have made a request for variance to accessory building area requirements [Section 18-0305 of the Land Development Code] in order to develop the property. Legal Description: Lot E, Block 2 of Shadyridge 8th Resubdivision.

3.           Mike OPP, Oxford Apartments, on behalf of J Olson properties, LLC, 2023 Dyke Ave., has made a request for variance to the front & rear yard setbacks [Section 18-0218 (8) & (10)) of the Land Development Code] in order to construct a warehouse building. Legal Description: Lots 6, 7& 8, Block 1 of Dakotah Place Addition.
