Storm Clean UP:

The City of Grand Forks will extend its garbage service this week as residents clean up after the recent rain storm.  Extra crews will be out to pick up water damaged items and the landfill will have extended hours this week.  There will be no charge to GF residents for the extra garbage service.  For more information CLICK HERE.

Position Details:

The Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission seeks a member who is either a practicing attorney or other legal credentials with a Juris Doctorate to join the Commission in this specialist position. This person should have exhibit a significant interest in historic preservation and be prepared to attend at least one evening meeting a month (second Tuesday at 6:30 pm) and one state-wide meeting a year. Meetings frequently require some preparation, either reading material or on-site review of properties. 

 

This Grand Forks Historic Preservation Commission member will serve a two-year term.

 

Note: This is not the County Historical Society, which is sometimes confused with the Commission.

The Grand Forks Growth Fund, established in 1987, is the City's Primary economic development financing program.  It has been managed since 1995 by the Growth Fund, a Jobs Development Authority with advice from the Growth Fund Committee.  

The Grand Forks Growth Fund, a Jobs Development Authority (JDA), through direct and indirect actions, will encourage the creation of new jobs, enhance the economic climate, save existing jobs, create new wealth, enhance the local property tax base, encourage capital investment, improve the quality of life, enhance tourism and local events, promote public, private, or public/private enterprises or partnerships, and diversify the local economy.

The Growth Fund JDA takes final action on recommendations provided by the Growth Fund Committee, a subcommittee to the JDA.

Membership:

The powers and responsibilities of the authority shall be vested in a board of directors consisting of all members of the Grand Forks City Council and the mayor for the City of Grand Forks.
