Grand Forks Event Center Commission

The mission of the Grand Forks Events Center Commission is to provide leadership that enables the Alerus Center to be beneficial to the regional economy, responsive to patrons, and accountable to Grand Forks taxpayers.

The Grand Forks Events Center Commission adopts policies, procedures, rules and/or regulations to manage and promote the Alerus Center to support this mission.

The Commission is made up of (7) voting members and two (2) nonvoting members.  Of the voting members, six (6) are appointed from the public at large and one (1) is a City Council member.  The non-voting members are one (1) representative from the University of North Dakota and one (1) from the Greater Grand Forks Convention and Visitors Bureau (Visit Greater Grand Forks). 

Commission Members serve for a 3 year term and public at large members are limited to 2 terms on the commission. 

The Commission meets monthly on the 4th Wednesday at 12:00 p.m. (Noon) at the Alerus Center. 

There are currently 3 positions to be filled for the public at large representatives.

1. Purpose

A board to be known as the city mechanical board is hereby created for the purpose of licensing mechanical contractors and to adopt rules and regulations to govern the installation of mechanical equipment.

2. Members; Terms

The board shall consist of the city engineer and five (5) other members to be appointed by the city council for a period of three (3) years each or until their successors are appointed and qualified. The term of office of the five (5) appointive members shall expire on staggering schedules. The five (5) members appointed shall consist of two (2) master mechanical installers with at least five (5) years' practical experience and one (1) journeyman mechanical installer with at least five (5) years' practical experience and two (2) other persons in a related industry. A quorum shall consist of four (4) members.
