Lost Pets and Stray Animals:

If your pet is missing, or if you see a stray or injured animal:

Contact the Police Department at 701-787-8000.
Check the Grand Forks Lost Pets Facebook page . While this is not an official City of Grand Forks page, it does provide an additional source for information on lost/stray animals in the community.

Stray animals in the City of Grand Forks which are picked up by the Police Department will be taken to the Circle of Friends Animal Shelter, which serves as the City Impound.

Claiming your Animal:

Contact the Circle of Friends Animal Shelter at (701)775-3732, pethelp@cofpets.com to verify that your animal is in the impound.
Pay the Impound Fee of $50 to the City of Grand Forks.

In Person: Finance and Administrative Services Department, located on the 1st Floor of City Hall, 255 N 4th Street. Office hours are Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm. Payment can be made with cash, check, or credit/debit card.
By Phone: Payments can be made by credit/debit card by calling (701) 746-2620, Monday-Friday from 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Provide proof of a current rabies vaccination certificate for your animal. A city license for the animal can also be purchased at time of impound fee payment.
Once payment is made, Circle of Friends is authorized to release the animal.

Go to the Circle of Friends Animal Shelter, 4375 North Washington Street. Present the receipt showing the impound fee has been paid. Hours of operation are 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., 7 days a week.

Additional Fees:

There may be additional charges due to the Circle of Friends. It is your responsibility to pay those charges in addition to the impound fee paid to the City of Grand Forks.
