The Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) contains a reporting of the operations and financial position of the City for the past year.  The report is prepared annually and is audited by an independent accounting firm.  The report is submitted to the Government Finance Officer's Association (GFOA) in its Certificate for Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting Program.  In order to receive the prestigious award, a government must publish an easily readable and efficiently organized comprehensive annual financial report which satisfies both Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and applicable legal requirements.  The City has received as been awarded the Certificate of Achievement for each consecutive year since the report for the year ended December 31, 1984.  

An accompanying document to the ACFR is the Independent Auditor's Reporting Requirements and Other Communications Required Under the Single Audit Act.  This includes both the independent auditor's opinion on the financial activities of the City and also a Schedule of Expenditures of Federal Awards (SEFA) and details the expenditures and certifies their compliance with applicable federal requirements. 

(Please note that the name of this report was changed starting with the 2020 report from Comprehensive Annual Financial Report (CAFR) to Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR).
