Budget Process:

The City of Grand Forks works hard to have a annual budget that meets the needs of the city while keeping in mind tax burden to the citizens of Grand Forks.  Below you will find a brief overview of the process the City goes through to come up with it's annual budget.

March - April

Individual departments submit their individual budget proposals to the Finance Dept.  These proposals may include additional staffing requests or additional equipment requests.

April - May

The Finance Dept. along with the Mayor's Office reviews the individual department requests and has meetings with each department.

During the review process individual departments may have their staffing/equipment requests accepted, delayed, or denied.

July - August

The proposed budget is finalized to presented to the GF City Council for final revisions and approval.  This is also the time that the proposed budget is posted online for public comment.
