Grocery Stores:

General Information from all of our grocers:

Trucks are arriving on a regular basis, including daily and, in some cases, more often than that at times.

Stores have been fast tracking the flow of products that are the highest in demand such as food, medicine and other essentials.

When shipments arrive, grocers are prioritizing certain products including disinfectants and paper products for restocking.

In some cases, grocers are limiting the amounts that can be purchased on in-demand items and respectfully ask all guests to consider their immediate needs.

When certain items are absent from the shelves, it is generally that there will be new supplies in a matter of a day or two rather than weeks.

All vendors have staff who are working extra hours to meet the increased demand.  At the same time, they appreciate that customers have been universally calm and pleasant.

All of the stores have been deep cleaning after store hours and also have been restocking of all shelves for the following day.

For those practicing social distancing, after 8:00 PM till closing tends to be a period with fewer crowds.

New dedicated store hours for shoppers who are seniors, compromised immune systems and others at high risk hours are being offered at some stores.

The use of reusable bags is not accepted at Hugo’s and Dollar Tree.

Associate support

Your health and our associates’ health is our top priority. We’ve asked any associate who feels unwell to stay home.

Store hours & sanitation

We’re taking extra measures to ensure a clean and healthy environment in our stores. We’re dedicating associates in every store to sanitize high-traffic, high-touch areas, like registers and shopping carts.

No-contact pickup & delivery

To help protect you and our associates during pickup, you may ask the associate to sign for the order on your behalf. This means you do not have to touch the associate’s keypad to accept your order.

For delivery orders, drivers will practice social distancing when picking up your order at the store. The driver will stay in the car while the pickup associate loads the order into the driver’s vehicle. In addition, no-contact delivery to your home will be available next week. Through this option, you can authorize the driver to leave the order at your door, and you won’t need to sign on the driver’s phone to accept your order.

www.gfseniorcenter.org/safeseniors

Currently offering Meals on Wheels and Home Delivered Meals programs. We are also    delivering these homebound seniors frozen meals if they have chosen to receive those in addition to their hot, noon meal.

DRIVE-THRU SERVICE: Each weekday from 11:30 am – 12:15 pm, seniors can pull up to the front of our Senior Center building (620 4th Ave S) and we will bring a hot meal out to you. No suggested donations are accepted at this time. If you choose, you can keep track of how many meals you have received and you can donate later. For the daily menu, either call 701-772-7245 or go to www.gfseniorcenter.org/menus. We will extend the hours of this service if necessary to accommodate all seniors. Feel free to pick up meals for neighbors as well. We will just need the full name and birthdate of each person receiving meals.

FROZEN MEALS: We also have frozen meals, which have been prepared here, available for seniors. If you use the internet, go to www.gfseniorcenter.org/frozenmeals for a current list of available meals. Whether you have access to the list or not, you can then place your order by calling 701-772-7245 or 701-757-4869. You can either pick up your frozen meal order at the drive-thru (you must call your order in ahead of time) or if you are unable to get here, call       either of the numbers above and a volunteer or staff person will deliver the meals.

IMPORTANT! We ask that you reach out to any family members, friends, or neighbors who are nearby, younger, and available to help you with errands and other assistance. Most pharmacies deliver and so do Hugo’s grocery stores (if ordering online). It is critical that people 60 and older remain out of the public. If you do not have anyone who is able to assist you, call 701-772-7245 to request a volunteer and we will do our best to assign one to you.

If you are experiencing a fever, cough, or shortness of breath and have had close-exposure to persons with confirmed COVID-19, or have traveled outside the country, please call Altru's 24/7 Coronavirus Screening Hotline at 701-780-6358 before visiting an Altru location.

Finally, we are concerned about your emotional well-being as well. We know this kind of extended isolation is extremely difficult. This is a great time to call friends, family, and neighbors and just chat; you don’t need to wait for someone to call you. Again, if you do not have anyone to visit with on the phone, let us know and we will arrange for a volunteer to call you for small phone chats.

The Grand Forks Senior Center will continue providing services for as long as we have staff, supplies, and volunteers to do so. For our most up-to-date information, see www.gfseniorcenter.org/safeseniors or call 701-772-7245.
