In 2015, the Grand Forks Public Health Department was awarded a chronic disease grant from the North Dakota Department of Health. From that grant, Partners for a Healthy Community (PHC) was created.

PHC is bringing people together to establish a community-wide effort to create healthy places for all residents to live, work and play.

We are committed to cultivating a physical and cultural environment that allows all residents of Grand Forks County to make a healthful choice, at any time and in any place. Specifically, we are focused on two important elements:

  • Making healthier food options available
  • Supporting more opportunities for physical activity

As part of this effort, Partners for a Healthy Community is working with businesses, community and faith based organizations. Our goal is to gather pledges, from local organizations, to implement at least one policy related to creating opportunities for physical activity and/or making healthy food and beverage choices available in their environments.
